Family Programs
The Museum of the Aleutians offers year-round programs designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and connect our community with the history, science, and stories of the Aleutian region. Whether you’re a lifelong learner, a family with young children, or a visiting class, we love creating opportunities to explore, ask questions, and get hands-on with the past.
STEAM Storytime
STEAM Storytime blends reading with science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities tailored for young learners.
Kids enjoy a themed story followed by hands-on projects that encourage creativity, experimentation, and play.
Perfect for preschoolers and early elementary students—and for grown-ups who enjoy watching a glue stick lose a fight with glitter.
Lunch and Learn
Our Lunch & Learn series is a community favorite: short, informal presentations on a wide range of topics—archaeology, history, ecology, art, and more.
Bring your lunch, settle in, and enjoy a mid-day deep dive with guest speakers, museum staff, and local experts. These sessions make learning feel easy, conversational, and surprisingly energizing for a lunch hour that isn’t powered by espresso.
Field Trips
We host engaging field trips for Unalaska City School District classes and visiting student groups from around the region. Each visit is tailored to grade level and curriculum.
We also offer:
Custom field trip themes upon teacher request
Pre-visit and post-visit materials to support classroom learning
Guided or self-guided options depending on group needs
If you’re a teacher planning a visit, reach out—we’re happy to help craft an experience that fits your class’s goals. Email education@aleutians.org or call us 907-581-5150
